Pier at the Grain bridge is located on the Poljanski nasip river bank in Ljubljana. It is one of the twenty river stops planned for the traffic regulation on the Ljubljanica river.

The river stop consists of prefabricated concrete platform (33,4m2) on the river bank and steel pontoon paved in wood (30,00 m2) on the river. The concrete platform is composed of three montage elements made in workshop from white stone agregat and dark gray cement and then mounted on the site. Form of the platform elements follows the configuration of the riverbank and then concludes with a console over the river.

The pontoon construction is made entirely of stainless steel and fixed on two pillars which enable vertical movement and adjustment to different levels of the water. The adjustable stairs, constructed especially for this project enable the access to the pontoon. They function on the parallelogram principle that enables the adjustment of the stairs up to the 1,5 m height differences of the water level. The Faculty of Mechanical engineering, University of Ljubljana has participated in the development of the construction.

Ljubljana has been living separated from the river for over a century. Physical and programme connectiion with the river has brought a new dimension and perception of the city.
It is of great importance that a city near the water lives in close relation and harmony with its natural water entity.
