The Petkovšek river bank is the only »green« embankment in the city centre.
It offers beautiful sights on the Ljubljana market place and the Ljubljana castle monument.
The goal of the project was to physically and programmatically connect a street and the river bank with a public programme and elements of an urban equipment.

The most significant spatial intervention in this project is a creation of a natural »auditorium« oriented on the river which will present an open green public place with seating and meeting spots.

Four pedestrian areas different in their frequence intensity appear on ground plan:
1. Street promenade
2. Avenue
3. River promenade
4. Green river bank

Three new urban equipment designs have been created for the project:
1. «Urban chairs« - on the upper and lower edge of the river bank
2. »Urban trees« - on the street level created for paved surfaces offering shadow to the terraces
3. Lamp posts for avenue lighting

The Street promenade is a promenade along houses with terraces of bars and confectioneries under the treetops of »urban trees«. The urban tree is a set of specially designed columns that either support creeper plants or fabric roof. Shapes and positioning of the urban equipment follow the idea of opening the sights from the Petkovšek river bank toward the Ljubljana market place.

The Avenue is the main promenade prepared for a more intense pedestrian traffic with central place where events, fairs and market stand shopping take place.

The River promenade is a promenade looking on the river with places for rest and meeting people in especially designed »urban chairs«. This area has a potential to become the next  »city beach«  due to its south orientation and beautiful sights on cultural heritage.

The Green river bank is intensified with additional punctual accesses which lead to »urban chairs« on the edge of the river bank and greenery. The intensive »greening« of the river bank continues onto the river bed – the creeper plants touch the water level.
